Bad news has shaken the football world.
Mauro Bellugi, 70, former footballer of Inter, Bologna, Napoli and Pistoiese, has undergone amputation of both legs as a result of Covid-19.

“They also cut off my leg with which I scored against Borussia Moenchengladbach”, he said in a video call with Luca Serafini for the portal altropensiero.net.
Amputation of both lower limbs, also affected by other pathologies, was necessary because they had long been a weak point for the former defender.
Bellugi was hospitalized on November 4 because he tested positive for Covid-19. His health condition deteriorated in recent weeks, until an emergency operation for limb complications was mandatory.
The former defender, who has been a TV commentator for years, has also found a way to make jokes.
“I will take those of Pistorius, so I will pass you in the corridors of the television studios,” he said ironically. Bellugi was one of the most famous defenders in the 60s-70s in Serie A and with the national team jersey, which he wore 32 times between 1974 and 1980.
With the Inter shirt he has scored the only goal in his career. He scored it in the Champions League match on 3 November 1971 against Borussia Moenchengladbach (4-2 in favor of Inter).
